According to Eric Wright’s official Twitter, the former Cleveland Browns cornerback has signed a new deal with the Detroit Lions, terms are undisclosed.
Much maligned in Cleveland for his poor cover skills in 2010, Wright should find a more suitable home in Detroit’s secondary alongside the likes of Alphonso Smith and Nathan Vasher and a much better defensive line that features Nick Fairley, Ndamukong Suh, Kyle Vanden Bosch and Corey Williams.
Wright, 26 was the Browns second round pick in 2007 out of UNLV, and during his career he has 249 total tackles and nine interceptions.
In 2010, Wright struggled in Cleveland and was the subject to fan and media scrutiny—including reported death threats from Browns fans—as he was one of the most targeted defensive backs in the NFL.
